Malaga – The smallest of Andalucia’s eight provinces

December 4, 2013 By Andalucia Travel Guide

Malaga Province

The smallest of Andalucias’ eight provinces, Malaga is also its’ most populated with a staggering 15 million tourists passing through the province each year. Roughly 12 million of these people arrive through Malaga Airport.

It may not have the historical legacies of Cordoba or Granada but it is a vibrant province with a great coastline (Costa del Sol).

Further inland you have the Serrania de Ronda – a series of small mountain ranges with ‘Pueblos Blancos‘, (white villages), clinging to its peaks and slopes.

Amongst these pueblos blancos you will find some of the most beautiful ones like Gaucin, Manilva and Casares.

Ronda is located astride the ‘Tajo‘ or gorge and is certainly one of the most beautiful!

An hour’s drive north of Malaga capital is Antequera, a charming 5000 year old city, which is also worth a visit!

About 50km from the capital also on the Costa Del Sol is the popular holiday town of Nerja. I remember we used to go here when we were younger for our holidays…find out about nerja tourist information.
